I don't understand why you would go anywhere for money. What's an extra 4 million when you are earning 8 million a year? 8 million a year is far more than you need anyway and with Barca you are almost guaranteed a trophy every season
I thought United were going to draw a line with the ridiculous wage structure. De Ligt is class but United are not creating enough going forward and united have serious problems retaining the ball under pressure. Bringing De Ligt in and offering him the wages he demands and captaincy will unsettle the squad even further. Zlatan was the last big name signing that was successful. Everyone since has to some degree been a flop. Will united and even more to the point the fans ever learn? Where are the goals going to come from. Liverpool and City already had great options going forward before they reinforced the back. Chucking money at a youngster hoping he will captain a club of uniteds size is crazy. Every transfer window these players use United to get a huge wage increase. The ONLY reason he will join United is for the money and that's the type of person some fans want as a captain? Its just makes no sense. If the players don't respect him then he will not fix anything on his own, that's a fact. You need 4 or 5 players on the pitch that collectivly take responsibility and the one player who everyone respects. Can't see it happening I don't care how well he sounds in a speach.
I don't think standing still for 80% of games watching Messi & co pass it around is going to help his development.

I don't think he would be a fit for United nor the EPL. He would probably play well in a ball possession team like City, he's too young and frankly inexperienced to put all our defensive hopes on him, moreso, will he come for the money?? We seem not to be learning much from our past failed big signings, even the price tag pressure is enough for him to fail.
