AS ROMA FANS CELEBRATING 3-0 VICTORY AGAINST BARCELONA IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 1/4 FINAL 2nD LEG
Roma Come From 3-0 Down To Knock Barcelona Out Of The Champions League
Roma just went and did the seemingly impossible by overturning a three goal deficit against Barcelona in the Champions League to go through to the semi-final of the competition, completely upsetting the odds.
The eyes of the world seemed to be on Manchester tonight and the slim chances of Manchester City overturning a three goal deficit to Liverpool in the Champions League quarter final, something that was well beyond them in the end.
Instead the eyes of the world should have been on Rome.
No one expected Roma to even get to the quarters and when they drew Barcelona it seemed almost impossible they’d go further. A 4-1 first leg defeat only cemented that thought process.
However in the Stadio Olimpico tonight the Romans did the impossible, beating a side unbeaten in the league this season 3-0 and going through on the away goal rule:
It is only the third time in the history of the Champions League that a side have overturned a three goal margin in the second leg of a game to go through. Deportivo trailed AC Milan 4-1 before winning the second leg 4-0 in 2004 and Barcelona infamously won their second leg against PSG 6-1 in 2017.
Incredible for Roma.
